The job that has won PestNet UK the coveted title of Defender Installer of the Month, was installing Defender Seagull Spikes along a parapet wall. Craig, along with his team member Alan Baines, were contracted to proof a parapet wall from seagulls in collaboration with Eco Environmental Services Ltd. Preventing seagulls from landing on the top of a building's parapet walls will stop the birds from defecating down the front of buildings onto the paths and entrances below. The build-up of bird guano can be a slip hazard and health hazard to the occupants.
The weather was against them at this particular job, so time was of the essence. Luckily Alan was on hand to keep them motivated! Add that to the fact our silicone, Defender® Fixing Silicone is a high tack, fast curing adhesive and the job was completed on time.
To ensure a strong fix, they made sure enough silicone was applied to each strip. The silicone oozes through the locking holes and once cured creates a permanent hold.
Craig and Alan used 3 rows of Defender® Seagull Spikes; the two outside rows have strips installed slightly overlapping the edges to make sure no determined gull can gain a foothold. They have also added a central row, which interlocks the pins to ensure no gull can land, perch or nest on this wall!
